January 6, 1943 ~ June 2, 2016 (age 73) 73 Years Old


James F. Metzker, 73, of Clearville passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at home with his family by his side.  He was born on January 6, 1943 in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania; a son of the late Frederick and Dorothy (Detwiler) Metzker. 

On August 20, 1963 in the Carson Valley Church, Duncansville, PA he was united in marriage to Estella Louise (Clark) Metzker.  Along with his wife of fifty-two years he is survived by daughters Judy married to Gary Ritter, Middleburg, PA and Janelle Metzker, Clearville and her fiancé Kevin Woy, Everett; grandchildren Brittany (Herline) married to Eric Milburn, BreAnne Herline and Aden Lewis; great grandsons Wyatt and Carson Milburn; siblings Alice “Betty” married to Clifford Imler, Bedford, PA; Shirley married to Ronald Ayers, Roaring Spring, PA and Dorothy “Dolly” married to Glenn Miller, Clearville, PA; and his faithful and loyal companion Katie “Pooger”, his shihtzu dog.

He was preceded in death by sister Mary Jane and her husband Frank Brumbaugh.

He attended the Bedford Bible Baptist Church, Bedford, PA.

Jim attended Morrison Cove and Everett Area High School.  He drove truck for forty-six years, retiring in 2009 from ABF Freight.  He was awarded two 1,000,000 mile certificates for safe driving from Ryder PIE and ABF companies.

He was a loving and providing husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed being with his family, especially his great grandsons.

Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling out west and watching the wildlife that came into his backyard.

At Jim’s request there will be no services and the family request no flowers please.

The family would like to send a special thanks to Grane Hospice for the excellent service they provided in the last days of his life.
