Joyce, so sorry to hear of John's passing. Memories flood back of our early days in Everett when we were all young teachers. Will always picture John with a smile on his face and a hello that made you feel like you were just the person he wanted to see. Our deepest sympathies to you and your family.

John and Family,
We owe our family's existence to you; for, w/o your lovely Daughter, our years together wouldn't have been possible. Your friendship's everlasting and our prayers continue for the loved one's left behind though not for long as life is short. We will live each as though it may be our last - just as you always have!!
Much love to all ! 'til soon, Kulak's

Dear Cindy & Family,

Our temporal earthly life is the greatest gift that God has given us. Death is only a bridge towards eternal life with God. Certainly heaven is rejoicing for another soul has finally reached his true home: a value John embraced during his passing lifetime, now meeting its everlasting rewards.

John's legacy is well reflected in the caring and genuine mentor that I have found in Cindy. From what I have read, this gift is also imprinted in all whose lives have been directly and/or indirectly touched by him.

My Deepest Condolences

Note: Koliva will be prepared and offered during a memorial service dedicated to Johns memory at Saint John's Cathedral in DC.

Memory Eternal!

I started at Everett School District and was blessed to have Mrs. Criswell as my first grade teacher....Was with her the day JFK was killed...will never forget her kind calmness through that day. I was also blessed to have Mr. Criswell my senior year....his POD class was my favorite....the country was coming out of Vietnam....conflict in the country then as now. He taught the class with honesty...and fun too. Made us at 17 think about our country in ways we had not. Wonderful Jovial Thoughtful Man!!!! Wish all students could have a teacher like him. RIP Mr. Criswell.....xxxooo

Joyce and Family,
From the moment I stepped into this man's classroom, I knew I was in the presence of a caring, compassionate man who not only loved teaching, but he loved his students more. Through the years, our families became friends and thirty years after I graduated, John was asking me about my career and my family - he remembered the smallest details about my life and his smile and interest were genuine and appreciated. He is the kind of teacher I hope I am. His legacy lives on in the hearts of the thousands of Everett graduates who were lucky enough to have him as their teacher. Joyce, thank you for sharing him with us as students and later, as friends. We are so so sorry for your loss and we remain in prayer for all of you. We love you,
Kim Nebel, Scott, Alex and Christian Douglas
