Betty Jane Hess, 93, of West 8th Street, Everett, PA; passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Pennknoll Village, Everett. She was born on January 23, 1924 in Tatesville, PA; a daughter of the late Clyde Brallier and Sallie (Ritchey) Brallier-Baughman.
On January 23, 1942 in Cumberland, Maryland; she was united in marriage to George A. “Allen” Hess. She is survived by her husband of seventy-five years.
She is also survived by children: Dennis Lynn Hess married to Mona (Browell), Breezewood, PA and Linda Allene married to Fred Karns, Everett, PA; five grandchildren Kelly (Karns) married to Jeff Clark, Wayde Allen Hess married to Beth (Clark), Travis Karns married to Heather (Hardman), Garrick Karns married to Debra (Milano) and Sallie Janell (Hess) Henderson; nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son Gary Allen Hess; granddaughter Monika Hess and siblings Lawrence Brallier and Alice Cunard.
Mrs. Hess was a member of the First Christian Church, Everett.
She was a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1941. Betty was mainly a stay at home wife/mother even caring for her children while her husband was serving overseas. She later worked for a couple of years at the Jolly Kids Shop and Barndollar Men’s Shop in Everett.
She was a member of the Bedford Springs Chapter No.#41 Order of Eastern Star.
Betty enjoyed sewing, cooking, crafting and working with flowers. She was a very crafty individual that enjoyed bird watching as well. She had a love for her family and grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett with Rev. Robert R. Robertson officiating.
Family and Friends may call at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 4-8 P.M. and on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Burial will be held at Bethel Cemetery, Tatesville.
