Wilma LeVan Obituary

Wilma W (May) LeVan, 95, of Everett, passed away on February 18, 2025.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Kent LeVan and wife Beverly, and Kevin LeVan and wife Suzanne; three grandchildren, Eleni LeVan-Miller married to Lane Miller, Jacob LeVan and Caleb LeVan; and one step great grandson, Nathan Miller and one great grandson, Charles Scott Miller. She is survived also by her sister, Genevieve, married to Howard Royer and sisters-in-law, Nancy May, and Joie Green, brother-in-law, Geary LeVan married to Virginia, and more than a few nieces and nephews. Her husband “Dick,” preceded her in death as well as her brother, Vaughn May.

A faithful evangelical Christian, Wilma was a voracious student of the Bible. She was a registered nurse, beginning her career at Nason Hospital in Roaring Spring, and concluding her nursing career in Dr Plado’s office in Everett. Wilma met the challenges of a Military Officer’s/Diplomat’s wife, raising two sons, while living in Verona, Italy (November 1957-September 1960) and in a volatile Congo, Africa (July 1966-July 1968); and Athens, Greece. She savored the travel memories associated with those stints in Europe, and remained interested in current events and “news,” her whole life. Having grown up on a farm, Wilma was a natural flower and vegetable gardener and further was able to beautifully capture the images of flowers as an amateur still life and landscape painter. Treasuring the outdoors above being penned up inside, she also raised sheep (and a bunch of cats) for a time, on a beloved hobby farm, colloquially called, “the barn,” as well as two well-loved dachshund’s and Herman, the cat. Wilma was a skilled cook and foodie, particularly of Mediterranean cuisine and hearty farm to table food, well before it was “a thing.”
