William (Bill) "Whomper" E. Williams, 86, of West Mattie Road, Clearville, PA; went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. He was born on November 1, 1937 in Clearville, PA; a son of the late Simon Holly Williams Sr. and Alice Elaine (Steckman) Williams.
He is survived by three nieces, whom he considered his daughters Tresa A. married to Vince Clark, Everett; Julie B. married to Dave Stanton, Somerset, Lori B. married to Jeremy Bolyard, Clearville; great nieces and nephews that were like his grandchildren Kayla, Kassidy and Kody Clark; Isaac, Caleb and Abigail Stanton; Ayden and Ella Bolyard; brother Simon H. Williams, Jr. married to Patricia (King), Dillsburg, PA and sister-in-law Iantha "Tink" Williams, Clearville, PA.
He was preceded in death by siblings Melvin "Mike" E. Williams, Doris Jean Mills and Kenneth M. Williams and a great niece/granddaughter Grace Bolyard.
Bill was a graduate of Everett Area High School Class of 1956. He worked at Caro's for twenty-one years and then at Jim's Motor Rebuilding for thirty-one years until his retirement.
Bill served as Vice President and President of the Breezewood V.F.W. Post 8333, President of the Horseshoe League of Everett Bartenders, President and coach of the Clearville Softball League, was a 50+ year continuous member of the Everett Red Men Wambic Tribe No. 507 and was very active in the Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery Association, having served as President, mowed and cared for the cemetery for many years.
He was a hard worker, an avid horseshoe pitcher, having won three championships, and was an excellent mechanic. He helped for many years with the Junior Ritchey Race Team.
Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing, watching the Steelers, sitting on the porch, working outside, having fun and playing jokes (April Fool's Day was his favorite), but nothing meant more to him than spending time with family. He had a huge heart, always had a helping hand and was a friend to many. His ornery and loving ways will be deeply missed and treasured forever.
Friends and Family will be received on Tuesday, January 2, 2023 from 4-8 P.M. at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537 and on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Stanton officiating.
Burial will be held privately at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
