William Spade Obituary

William H. Spade, 88, of Gemma Road, Bedford, PA; passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. He was born on November 25, 1929 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; a son of the late Albert H. Spade and Emma C. (Showalter) Spade.  On December 24, 1953 at Friends Cove United Church of Christ; he married Shirley J. (Diehl) Spade.

Along with his wife of sixty-four years, he is survived by children Vicki Lee married to David Lohr, Everett; Kenneth A. Spade and significant other Iris, Greencastle, PA and CheChee A. married to Joel Critchfield, Houston, TX; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; sister-in-law Betty (Nelson) Spade, Clearville, PA.

He was preceded in death by a brother Clarence Junior Spade.

He attended the Everett Church of God and was a member of the Friends Cove Sportsman Club and the Bedford American Legion Post No. 113.

He was a mechanic for Eastern Express, Inc, where he was president of the Machinist Union.  Bill previously worked for Bedford Valley and Chemical Lehman and H. Eugene Koontz Milk Hauling.

Mr. Spade served our country as a Corporal in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953, during the Korean War.  He served at Fort Meade, Fort Eustis, Goose Bay Air Force Base, Labrador, Argentina, Newfoundland and Fort Dix.

Friends and Family will be received on Friday, May 25, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Sams and Pastor William Kisner officiating.

Burial will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park with full military honors conducted by the Everett Area Honor Guard.
