Wilday I. Grace

Wilday I. Grace, 82, of June Drive, Roaring Spring, PA; passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona.  He was born on February 8, 1939 in Hopewell, PA; a son of the late Clifford E. and Verna A. (Browell) Grace.  On May 21, 1999 he was united in marriage to the former Virginia (Blake) Grace; she preceded him in death on December 22, 2019. 

He is survived by daughter Julie Grace, Hagerstown, MD; grandchildren Joel Whisner married to Samantha, Evan Feigley, and Christopher Feigley; great-grandchildren Hunter, Ella and Lily; numerous step grandchildren; siblings Ruth A. O’Neal, Hopewell, PA and John M. Grace married to Mary J. (Siegrist) Grace, Hopewell, PA; sister-in-law Sharon J. Grace.

Along with his parents and wife he was preceded in death by grandson Thomas Patterson and siblings Sally J. Griffith, James C. Grace, Larry G. Grace, William Grace and Janet Skipper.

Wilday was a graduate of Northern Bedford County Class of 1959. After high school he went on to serve in the United States Army from 1959-1962.  After the service he returned home and began working in the coal mines, spending most of his career in the mines.

Mr. Grace was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and playing guitar.  He was active with the Hopewell Area Senior Citizens, and was also involved in many evening programs at the Graystone Apartments in Roaring Spring.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home.

Friends and Family will be received on Friday, November 19, 0221 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537.

Burial will be held privately at Hopewell Cemetery.
