Wilda Von Stein Obituary

Wilda D. Von Stein, 84, of Lititz, PA, formerly of Washington, DC and Clearville, PA; passed away on Tuesday, February 04, 2025 at Moravian Manor Communities in Lititz, PA.  She was born on January 15, 1941 in Clearville, PA; a daughter of the late Ivan O. and Grace V. (Miller) Von Stein. 

She is survived by three children Rick Mallow and partner, Suzanne Miller, Clearville, PA; Barry Mallow, Clearville, PA; and Pamela Formica, Lititz, PA; grandchildren Desni Dantone, Lauren Baras, Jared Mallow, Rebecca Formica, and Ross Formica; ten great-grandchildren and brothers Dale T. Von Stein and Vernon V. Von Stein.

She was preceded in death by a brother Paul D. Von Stein.

She was a graduate of Everett Area High School and went on to study at Allegany Community College of Maryland and University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.  She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clearville, PA.  She was a member of the Potomac River Jazz Club where she was actively involved in leadership roles; she volunteered at the White House under the Clinton Administration; she loved animals, working crossword and sudoku puzzles, traveling, and watching the airplanes from her DC condo. 

Wilda began her work life at the Howard Johnson’s rest stop near the Bedford turnpike exit.  She moved on to an administrative role with Everett Area School District and served as local tax collector for many years.  Pursuing her dreams, she moved to the District of Columbia in mid 1980s.  She held numerous positions of increasing responsibility with the Society of the Plastics Industry, earning several employee recognition awards and retiring in 2011 as the Director of Membership.  

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at the Zion Lutheran Church, 5497 Clear Ridge Road, Clearville, PA 15535 with Lay Speaker Robbie Roland officiating.

Burial will be held at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
