Veryl was a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1951.
He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War.
Veryl was a member of the Everett United Methodist Church, where he formerly served on various boards.
For over thirty years, Veryl was a familiar and respected face at the Family House Restaurant in Breezewood, where he served as manager until his retirement in 1999. Beyond his professional leadership, he acted as a mentor to countless teenagers entering the workforce, leaving a lasting impact on generations of local youth.
A man of service, he was deeply committed to his community as a member of the Breezewood Volunteer Fire Company with 60 years of service, a 58-year member of the Breezewood Lions Club, and a member of the Breezewood V.F.W. Post 8333. He also contributed his time to local governance in East Providence Township by serving on the Municipal Authority.
He found great joy in the simple, honest work of tending to his home—whether he was meticulously mowing his lawn, splitting firewood, or caring for his flowers. His love for gardening often took him to local flower auctions where he made more friendships. He was a dedicated steward of his faith and community. He spent many hours working the grounds year around at the Crystal Spring Camp Meeting Grounds where he also served in various capacities including Trustee President and Treasurer. He will be fondly remembered for his famous coleslaw, a staple at many Breezewood Fire Hall meals. His hardworking nature and kind heart earned him the respect of all who knew him.
