Thomas Duane McGhee, 72, of Dudley, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025 after a courageous battle of cancer for fourteen years. He was born on December 5, 1952 in Huntingdon County; a son of the late Merle D. and Betty J. (Hess) McGhee. On April 4, 1971 in the home of Rev. Rumbaugh’s at midnight, he was united in marriage to Cecelia “Rose” (Luther) McGhee.
Along with his wife, he is survived by two twin sons Michael Todd McGhee married to Melissa and Mathew Jay McGhee married to Lori; sisters Patty married to Jay Wise and Suzanne married to Jake Detterline; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Tom also has several nieces and nephews he was very fond of.
Tom was a graduate of Tussey Mountain High School Class of 1970. He started working at the age of sixteen. He owned and operated McGhee’s Used Cars Inc., for fifty-four years. Throughout his life Tom played for various bands, he enjoyed music. The last band that he organized and performed with was "Good Times Gospel Band." He had an amazing ear for music; it was certainly a God given gift.
Mr. McGhee attended Broad Top Church of God and professed a strong faith in God.
He enjoyed golfing, restoring cars, collecting various antiques and hobby trains. Tom had a generous heart; he enjoyed helping others and had a deep love for his family and providing for them.
He was a hard worker, dedicated and humble man.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. at Akers Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ron Wilson officiating.
Friends may call at Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral chapel. There will be a time of refreshment and fellowship following the funeral service at the Saxton Volunteer Fire Company.
Burial will be held privately at Dudley Protestant Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. McGhee to the local volunteer Fire Companies of your choice, Six Mile Run Volunteer Fire Company, Saxton Volunteer Fire Company or Robertsdale Volunteer Fire Company.
