Theodore Carpenter Obituary

Pat Carpenter, 69, of McConnellsburg passed away on Sunday, May 31 at Laurel Lakes Rehabilitation in Chambersburg, PA. He was a son of the late Elmer & Glenda Carpenter. He was born July 15, 1956, in Weirton, West Virginia and lived there until the Carpenter family moved to Crystal Spring in 1957.  He was preceded in death by his wife Ok Sun in 2009 and by two brothers, Karl and Tony.  Also preceding him in death were two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, as well as two nephews, one great-nephew and one great-great niece.

Surviving siblings are Nedra Carpenter of Rays Cove, William of Breezewood, Glenda Jo Truax of Everett, and John (wife Joan) of Crystal Spring.  Pat is also survived by many nephews and nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces and great-great nieces and nephews.

After graduating from high school in 1974, Pat enlisted in the Army.  His basic training was at Fort Knox, Kentucky and from there he was stationed in Texas before being sent to Germany and from there to Korea where he met his wife.  After returning from Korea, he and Ok Sun lived in White Sands, New Mexico.  Pat adopted much of Ok Sun’s Korean lifestyle, especially the food.

Later they moved to  Missouri where they lived for many years.  He worked as a truck driver for Werner and was a school bus driver.  He returned to Pennsylvania in August 2025 where he resided in an apartment in McConnellsburg.  Pat’s favorite hobbies were taking care of his cats and going to car shows looking for American Motors Eagles and admiring Monster trucks.  Though far away, he kept in touch with friends and family through Facebook, posting cars and cats and more.

A special thank you to Pat’s nephew, Jimmy, who helped him with many things and who was able to take Pat to a car show in St. Thomas shortly before he passed away.

At his request, there will be no viewing or funeral.  Interment was at the Akersville Cemetery.
