Stephen Mann Obituary

Stephen Pinkerton Mann, 72 of Pepple Road, Everett, PA; passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Harmony House Manor in Johnstown, PA.  Steve was born on June 17, 1949 in Washington, D.C.; a son of the late John and Frances (Pinkerton) Mann.  On September 6, 2012 in Everett, PA he was united in marriage to Patricia J. Pepple.  He was formerly married to Susan Hodge; they had two children together Erica, married to Robert Firestone of Colorado, and Michael Mann also of Colorado.  He is also survived by grandson, Sebastian Firestone, stepsons, Jeremy Shaffer and Bradley Shaffer, and four step grandchildren.

Steve worked for the Metropolitan Police Department from 1972 to 1995, specializing in criminal investigation from 1982 to 1995.  After retiring from the police department, he worked for the Department of Justice until 2011, where he provided education and training for police officers both locally and internationally.  Steve described his work experience as “having a front row seat to the greatest show on earth.”

Steve loved spending time outdoors.  Camping and fly fishing were two of his favorite hobbies. Steve always had a smile and loved making those around him laugh by sharing his life experiences.  He enjoyed many Pepple family gatherings and outings.  He prided himself in starting his own business, “Hay Steve,” in which he worked alongside his brother-in-law, Garry Pepple. He also treasured his face time chats with his grandson, “Sebby.” Steve loved his family and was proud of his children.  His smile will be missed by everyone that knew him.

Steve was of the Protestant Faith and previously attended Pennwood Bible Church and Steven’s Chapel.

Patricia and family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Harmony House Manor.  A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Steve to the National Fallen Officers Foundation, 1025 Connecticut Ave NW, Suite 1000, Washington DC 20036.
