Stephen Lou Lewis

Stephen Lou Lewis, 83, died peacefully at home on Sunday, January 18, 2026.  He was born on September 2, 1942, at Coaldale Hospital, in Carbon County, PA, the son of Steve and Mary (Burke) Lewis

He is survived by his wife Anne, his son Stephen Sean and wife Missy; and daughter Rachel; sisters Jacqueline Hubblitz, and Christine Donohue. He leaves 5 grandchildren: Jonathan, Alexis (deceased), Olivia, Faythe, and Cole; and 2 great-grandchildren: Jade and Jet.

Stephen attended Lansford High School in Lansford, PA, and after graduation enlisted the U.S. Navy. During his Navy tour, his ship, the USS Union, was part of the Cuban Blockade in October 1962. He served three years of sea duty in the Pacific. After he was discharged from the Navy, he applied to the State Police Academy at Hershey, PA. He became a commissioned police officer, graduating from the academy in May 1965, and married his lifelong love and partner, Anne. He was a member of Troop T at the Everett Barracks on the Turnpike for 25 years. He retired with 27 years of service time in 1992.

In his free time, he enjoyed camping with his family, playing a round of golf at Down River and Ligonier golf courses, turning bowls on the lathe, and making things from wood, fishing with his son and grandson, birdwatching, and watching Steelers and Pirates games on TV. He especially cherished eating out on Fridays with his wife.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #57, the PA State Police Retirees Association, the VFW Post 8333 in Breezewood, and the Bloody Run Social Club in Everett, PA.

Stephen lived a long, full life and will be loved and missed always by his family and friends.
