Shirley L. (Boore) Imes

Shirley L. Imes, 85, of Clear Ridge Road, Everett, PA; went to sleep peacefully to await the resurrection on Friday, January 24, 2020.  She was born on November 17, 1934 in Cumberland Valley Township; daughter of the late Addison B. and Carrie P. (Beegle) Boore.  On March 10, 1956 in Winchester, VA; she was united in marriage to Upton M. Imes.

Along with her husband of sixty-three years she is survived by children Jeffrey M. Imes married to Kimberly (Grimes), New Enterprise, PA; Joseph M. Imes married to Jacalyn (Fischer), Everett, PA and Melissa J. Imes, Fayetteville, PA; four grandchildren Corey Imes married to Nicole, Cassi married to Justin Mehaffey, Jessica married to KC Sims and Jillian Imes; seven great grandchildren Chase and Cooper Imes, Davis and Stella Mehaffey; Isaac, Carter and Quincy Sims; siblings Mary Butler, Mt. Airy, MD; Janet Calhoun, Everett, PA and Marvin “Gene” Boore, New Windsor, MD.

She was preceded in death by siblings Elva Jenkins, Milton “Paul” Boore, William Boore, Lloyd Boore, John Boore, David Boore, Greta Clark, Ronald Boore, Helen Boore, Gerald Boore and Norma Boore.

Shirley was a member of the Everett Seventh Day Adventist Church, where she was very active over the years with teaching, community outreach programs and the fruit sales fundraising efforts.

She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan and enjoyed cross stitching, working puzzles and puzzle books.  Shirley enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and keeping up with their accomplishments.

Over the years Shirley babysat some of her family and other children in the community.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett with Pastor Robert Snyder officiating.

Family and Friends may call at Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 from 5-8 P.M. and on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Burial will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park.
