Sarah Marie (Brindle) Gill

Sarah Marie (Brindle) Gill, 94, of Mifflintown passed away peacefully on December 18, 2021.

Sarah was born May 22, 1927 in Aitch, a daughter of the late George and Lela (Krieger) Brindle. She was the eighth born of eleven children.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Judith Gibson of Lewistown; three grandchildren, Travis Dyer of Lewiston, Robin Rodriguez and her husband Felipe, and Dani Edwards and her husband Randy of South Carolina; 5 great grandchildren, Kirby, Riley, Daniel, Jacob and Jackson; and one great-great grandson Grayson and her sister Wanda (Brindle) Meshyock of Thompsontown.

She was preceded in death by her son Robert “Bobby” Shetrom, 1995.

On February 24, 1968 she was united in marriage to her husband of 53 years, Edward Gill, who was her dedicated caregiver for the last several years.

Sarah graduated from Huntingdon Area High School and began working at the Fiber Glass Company in Huntingdon while she attended Cosmetology School in Altoona.
 

Sarah moved to Pikesville, MD where she owned and operated two beauty parlors, one in the Freedom Shopping Center in Baltimore, MD and one in her home well into her sixties.
Sarah is best remembered for being kind, caring and generous to all friends and family. Her positive upbeat personality and laughter were contagious. Sarah ALWAYS put her family first, never met a card game she didn’t like, and loved to exclaim “holy buckets” as her favorite phrase. She enjoyed the local Maria’s, Pimlico racetrack, and yearly visits to Ocean City, MD.
Her grandchildren made her life complete; however she loved all the children in her life as she thoroughly enjoyed slipping cash into their pockets just so they could buy an ice cream. Sarah had a heart of gold that touched many lives along her earthly journey. She will be sorely missed and forever loved.

Funeral Service will be held at gravesite on Wednesday, December 29th at 2:00pm at Entriken Cemetery with Pastor Sylvia Smith officiating.
