S. Ann Snyder, aged 74, passed away on October 29, 2024, in Saxton, PA, surrounded by her family. Born on April 11, 1950, Ann dedicated her professional life to nurturing the minds of young children, having served as a first-grade teacher at Saxton Liberty Elementary School for 35 years before her retirement in 2007.
Ann was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She leaves behind her husband of 52 years, James Snyder; her son, Patrick Snyder and his wife Betsy; her daughter, Erin Snyder; grandsons, Alex Snyder and Matthew Parks; and her brother, Jack Dickson and his wife Susan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thompson and Mary (Skipper) Dickson.
A graduate of Tussey Mountain High School and Shippensburg University, Ann was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a professional society for women educators. Her commitment to education and her passion for teaching were profound. Ann was instrumental in nurturing musical talent in her grandson, an accomplished musician, teaching him piano at a young age. Her influence extends through his music, continuing her legacy.
Ann's hobbies included reading, playing the piano, and enjoying cherished beach trips with her family. In high school, she was active in sports, playing softball and basketball, and was a member of the band, showcasing her diverse talents and interests.
Kind, loving, and devoted, Ann Snyder will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, and the countless children she taught over the years. She has left an indelible mark on her community and all who knew her.
Friends and family will be received on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of service at the Akers Funeral Home, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA 16678. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 A.M. at the same location with Pastor Jack Russell officiating.
Burial will be held at Broad Top I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Broad Top City, PA.
Memorial donations may be sent to TMEA, 199 Front Street, Saxton, PA 16678, c/o TMEA Treasurer. Contributions will support a scholarship for a Tussey Mountain senior pursuing a degree in education.
