Ruth (Koontz) Sylvester, 83, of Hollidaysburg formerly of Everett, PA; passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026 at home. She was born on December 19, 1942 in Bedford, PA; a daughter of the late Paul Andrews Koontz and Margaret (Brice) Koontz. On June 11, 1966 in Bedford, PA; she was united in marriage to Donald H. Sylvester.
Along with her husband of fifty-nine years she is survived by four children Jeanette S. Mann, Susan S. Mills married to Brad, Andrew H. Sylvester married to Jessica (Hmel) and Sara A. Sylvester; nine grandchildren Morgan Hall, Cole Murray, Allison Denny, Brandon Denny, Peyton, Sydney and Reagan Sylvester, Savannah and Sheena Mills; four great grandchildren Nora and Scarlett Murray, Kyeson Nickles, and Brixton Hall; siblings Sara Ann Chase married to David, John B. Koontz married to Helene, Paula Koontz-Dalton married to Mark, and Anna Margaret Koontz.
She was a member of the Bedford United Methodist Church. She, alongside her husband, owned and operated Everett Shoe Sales and Repair in Everett from 1980 until retirement in 2017. She was an active member of the Everett Area Better Business Association for many years.
She was a graduate of Bedford High School Class of 1960 and received her bachelors of science in education from Radford University. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
