Roy Hipp Obituary

Roy Isaac Hipp, 69, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, suddenly after residing at his home in Saxton, PA.

He always wore a smile and greeted everyone with kindness.  He was congenial and never heard him complain about anything or anyone.  Roy was a believer of Jesus Christ and considered Alfred Chamberlain to be his pastor.  He enjoyed woodworking as a hobby and was quite good at his craft.

Roy Hipp was united in marriage to Ruby (Mosebey) Hipp on October 19, 1999, she preceded him in death on October 17, 2022.  Roy was born in Roaring Spring, PA on September 14, 1954;  the son of Joseph Hipp and Florence (Weaver) Hipp.  He was third from the oldest of six siblings Mary Ralston of Huntingdon; Joe Hipp of Huntingdon; Dave Hipp married to Cindy of Huntingdon; Dorothy Peck married to Jeff of Petersburg Pike; Bob Hipp married to Becky of Bellwood; and Shirley Hockenberry married to David of Blairs Mills.  He was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  

Roy had one son, Jamie, from a previous marriage. He preceded him in death in 2015.

Mr. Hipp was a veteran of the U.S. Army enlisting soon after graduating from Huntingdon Area High School in 1974.

He worked many places during his working career including Fleming Foods in Huntingdon, Blair Mill Outlet, Degol Brothers, Leighty’s, Seton in Saxton, and as a custodian at Tussey Mountain School District and at Central Elementary in Martinsburg.  He was a life member of Huntingdon Hook and Ladder.  

Friends and Family will be received on Sunday, March 17, 2024 from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service at the Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA 16678.

Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at the Akers Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dean Thomas officiating.

Roy will be buried at Yellow Creek Reformed Cemetery alongside his beloved wife Ruby.  Broad Top Area Honor Guard will conduct military honors.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton to help with funeral expenses.
