Rose M. (Snyder) Schetrompf

Rose M. (Snyder) Schetrompf, 104, passed away December 22, 2020, peacefully at her home in Everett. She was born May 9, 1916, in Imlertown, daughter of Lyman Edwin Snyder and Anna Elizabeth Gibson. Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Howard P. Schetrompf; by her parents; her brother Howard L. Snyder, Sisters: Mabel Snyder Aronholt, Dorothy Snyder Ellis, Helen Snyder Feight, Daughter Wanda Schetrompf, granddaughter Donna Jean Schetrompf, and great grandson Nicholas Fuhrmeister. 

She is survived by the following children:  Howard Peter Schetrompf, Jr. US Army Sergeant Major, Retired, and his wife Carol,  Sergeant retired, Ludiwici, GA; Gary L. Schetrompf and his wife Terry, Portage, PA; Clyde L. Schetrompf and his partner Donna Leeds, Everett, PA; daughters JoAnn E. Clark, Maple Shade, NJ; Julie M. Naglic and her husband Thomas, Bedford, PA. She is also survived by the following  grandchildren: Howard P. Schetrompf III, Easton, PA; Jeanee Furhmeister & husband Brian, Maple Shade, NJ; Renee Clark, Maple Shade, NJ; Justin Schetrompf and Valorie Heckman, Harrisburg, PA; Jason Schetrompf, Edwards, CO; Amanda Huxta & Husband Robert, Everett, PA; Vincent Naglic, Bedford, PA; Tina Snellenberger & Husband Roy, Little Rock, AR; Trevor Schetrompf & wife Bobbi, Clarksville, TN; Travis Schetrompf and fiancé Ashleigh Zellem, Somerset, PA; Tabitha Strait & husband Craig, Harrisonville, PA;  Chaley Davis & husband Jeffrey; Chelsey Howard & husband Kevin; Lynette Ritchey, Nistra, FL; Tina Ritchey, Fulmer, PA; step grandchildren Stacey Yanss and Husband Thomas; Michael Bridge & wife Angie;  28 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws, all of whom she dearly loved. 

Rose was a member of the graduating class of 1936 from Replogle High School in New Enterprise, and Beautician School in State College in 1939. Rose also owned and operated Rose’s Beauty Shop in Everett for 47 years, until age 94 ½.  While running her beauty-shop, she also worked on the family farm and raised her 6 children. 

Rose was a generous and loving person who opened her home to everyone. She loved gardening, hunting, and bingo.  Cooking was one of her favorite pass times and she greatly enjoyed holidays, serving many of her favorite dinners, pies, cakes, homemade ham pot pie and sauerkraut. Rose was well known and loved by many of her loyal and devoted customers. 

Rose was featured on the Today Show for the Smucker’s Birthdays at age 101 and received a Smucker’s Jam Jar with her photograph. 

Rose was a member of the Everett Church of the Brethren. 

A Private Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor John Bennett officiating. 

Burial will be at Everett Cemetery.
