Rollie Stratton Obituary

Rollie L. Stratton, 82, of Roaring Spring, PA, went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. He was born in Detroit, MI on August 11, 1939. The son of the late Rollie and Eva (Brown) Stratton, he was raised on a farm in Benton, KY. Rollie was: a loving husband, father and grandfather; a Spirit filled Baptist preacher; and a proud Marine.
Rollie was united in marriage to Wanda D. (Fleegle) Baker at the Raven Run Church of the Brethren on October 1, 2006. Along with his wife, Wanda, he is survived by his children Tara (wife of Daniel Martinez), Dawn (wife of Larry Robinson), Jon Mark (widowed husband of Janet), his stepchildren Brenda (Baker) Thompson (fiancé of Greg Berthold) and Brian (husband of Nancy[Reed]), 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents Rollie was preceded in death by three wives, Catherine, Norma Jean and Delores, a son, Brien L. Stratton, a granddaughter and siblings, Peggy, Eddie, Mary Jo and Eva.

After serving in the United States Marine Corps, Rollie served as pastor of the Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Salem, KY for 35 years. While serving as pastor, Mr. Stratton also worked full time, primarily as a painter. He also worked high steel in Chicago, IL, as a police officer In Paducah, KY, as an excavator and as a truck driver. After moving to PA Rollie served as associate pastor of the Riddlesburg Church of the Brethren until his health prevented it. Rollie loved the Lord and his passion was preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Rollie enjoyed watching basketball and football, and, in his younger years he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He raised Beagle dogs for a number of years, had fond memories of restoring his old pickup truck and not so fond memories of farming with horses in the 1940s. Rollie’s favorite beverage was Coca-Cola, and, his favorite snack was Little Debbie Swiss Rolls.
