Robert Melvin “Mel” Jackaway, 74, of Everett, PA; passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at UPMC Altoona Hospital. He was born on September 13, 1950 in Charleroi, PA; a son of the late Joseph Nelson and Clarice Muriel (Mentz) Jones. On October 19, 2019 in the First Christian Church, Everett; he was united in marriage to Karen T. (Hahn) Jackaway.
Along with his wife, he is survived by son Joshua Caleb Jackaway married to Sara, Kansas City, MO and Jennifer Sue (Jackaway) married to Noah Albro, Flagstaff, AZ; grandchildren Boston and Weston and siblings Joseph Nelson Jackaway, Paul Leonard Jackaway married to Cathy and Darlene Elaine Jolly.
Mel was a member of the First Christian Church, where he taught Sunday School and greeted everyone with a smile.
He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1970-1974. He was an engineering technician by trade.
At Mel’s request there will be no services and burial will be held privately at Union Cemetery in Keymar, MD.
Romans 5:8, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." and Psalm 90:12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
