Our most precious Robert Lawson Duvall, 85, of Breezewood, PA; went to be with his Lord and
Savior on Monday, October 3, 2022. He was born on June 22, 1937 in the Everett Hospital,
Everett, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Ernest Howard and Margaret Faye (Foor) Duvall. On
November 26, 1965 at Everett Assembly of God, he married Doris Jean (McCormick) Duvall.
Along with his treasured wife of nearly fifty-seven years, he is survived by children Michelle
Lynn married to Richard Lynn Layton and Philip Howard Duvall married to Tammy A. (Doyle);
grandchildren Lyndsey Renee (Layton) married to Cody Reid Richards; Marissa Paige (Layton)
married to Jeffrey Paul Reider and Taylor Nicole Duvall and MacKenzie Elizabeth Duvall; great
grandchildren Clayton Reid Richards and Mia Grace Reider; brother Roderick Lyle Duvall
married to Carolyn Louise (Morton); half-sister Virginia Ann Gregory, sister-in-law Geneva
Leona (Garland) Duvall and extended family and cherished ones who have enriched his life.
He was preceded in death by a brother Richard Lee Duvall and a sister Betty Louise Duvall.
Robert was a member of Southern Fulton’s 1956 graduating class with a concentration in the
Farm/Ag program. He was an All-Star in basketball and also excelled in baseball and track and
field. He remained active in sports throughout his life, participating and earning medals in the
Senior Olympics and Keystone State Games.
Following High School Robert joined the Army and proudly served our country as a medic
before requesting an honorable discharge to help his family with their dairy farm.
Although Roberts’ primary vocation was Dairy Farming, the family Potato Farm and Sawmill
kept him busy as well. In his retirement he continued to be industrious, traversing the
mountains and cutting timber independently. He also had an excavating and snow removal
business and often used his many skills to help a neighbor or a friend in need.
Through the years, Roberts’s hobbies included, downhill skiing, supporting our local youth
sports programs by faithfully attending the games and praising and encouraging the
participants, Saturday night hymn sings at Friendship Village, Riding his big equipment while
maintaining the family property, and carving out time to cherish and mentor his family with
whom he loved spending time, especially his great grandchildren!
Robert, was a founding member of the Breezewood Lighthouse Assembly of God Church where
he served the Lord faithfully, giving of his time and resources wherever he saw a need. During
his years at the Lighthouse, he was blessed to travel to Guatemala, Barbados, South America
and Africa with mini-missions teams led by Reverend Nathaniel Saginario. The teams visited
schools and churches bringing evangelism and encouragement via a Gospel choir. He also
served on the church board.
Roberts’ passion was to worship Jesus with his life, encouraging others to do the same. This
passion to make Christ known continued until the moment Robert stepped into eternity. His
home going took place at the highest point on his mountain where he was preparing to erect
the Christmas Star for all to see and know the hope that we have in Jesus our Lord and Savior.
So look to the star and know…
“but just as it is written [in Scripture], “Things which the eye has not seen and the ear has
not heard, And which have not entered the heart of man, All that God has prepared for those
who love Him [who hold Him in affectionate reverence, who obey Him, and who gratefully
recognize the benefits that He has bestowed].” 1 Corinthians 2:9 (AMP)
