Raymond R. Sipes

Raymond R. Sipes, 90, of South Breezewood Road, Breezewood; PA passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.  He was born on November 26, 1930 in Clearville, Pennsylvania; a son on the late Charles and Amanda (Bowman) Sipes.  On January 12, 1955 in Winchester, VA; he was united in marriage to Shirley A. (Layton) Sipes.  She preceded him in death on May 4, 2014. 

He is survived by children Patsy J. married to Daniel Bryant, Breezewood and Jeffrey R. Sipes married to Marlene (Jay), Breezewood; grandchildren Alex L. Sipes and signifiacant other Jenna Simon, Shauni J. (Sipes) married to Tyler Robinette; great grandchildren Talon, Conway, Summer and Logan; step grandchildren Jason Bryant and Alexis Bryant; step great grandchildren Lilly, Abbi, Rylan, Brodey and Creo. 

Ray was preceded in death by a grandson Barrett Shawn Husick and siblings Herbert Sipes, Ila Hedrick and Elsie Morse. 

He was a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1949 and served in the 121st Artillery Division of the United States Army during the Korean War. 

Ray was the service manager at Snyders Gateway for over forty years until his retirement. 

He was an active member of the Breezewood United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee and he and his wife served as custodians for many years. 

Ray was a charter member of the Breezewood V.F.W. Post No.8333, and member of the Breezewood Lions Club, Everett American Legion Post No. 08, Everett V.F.W. Post 2088, Bedford American Legion Post 113, served as a trustee for the Crystal Spring Camp Meeting for many years and formerly serving on the East Providence Township Sewage Authority. 

He enjoyed going out to eat, hunting, tractors, tinkering with his model A Ford and annual camp meeting at Crystal Spring. 

Friends and Family will be received on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at the Akers Funeral Home from 4-8 P.M. and on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service. 

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Patrick Traxler officiating. 

Burial will be held at the Everett Cemetery.
