Ray Klahre Obituary

Ray Charles Klahre, 87, of Clearville, went Home to be with Jesus on Saturday, February 1, 2025. He was born on August 6, 1937, at the “home place” in Clearville. He was born to the late Emory and Ida (Ferguson) Klahre. Ray graduated high school in 1955 and went on to serve in the United States National Guards from 1955-1964. On July 9, 1959, he married Norma Jean (Miller) Foor in Winchester, Va.

Jean preceded Ray in death (July 23, 2012). He was also preceded in death by a son, Ricky Vincent Foor (December 31, 2012); a granddaughter, Brandi Michelle Hays (May 4, 2023); a brother, Ellis D. Klahre (September 10, 2022), and his wife Marjorie (October 1, 2011).

Ray is survived by the following children: Vicki Stiffler and husband Wes, of Clearville; daughter-in-law Brenda Foor of Everett; Pam Watkins of Everett; Penny Kipp and husband Bernie, of McConnellsburg; Lisa Miller and husband Brian, of Clearville. Ray is also survived by a sister Joan Hedrick and husband Floyd, of Everett. Ray is survived by 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and four great-great- grandchildren.

Ray was a self-employed farmer, which he thoroughly enjoyed. In addition to farming, he logged for his brother Ellis, and hauled livestock and did custom field work for other farmers. Ray also worked at Lampire, in addition to serving as a caretaker and board member for Rock Hill Cemetery Association.

Ray was a member of - and faithfully attended - the Clear Creek Brethren in Christ Church in Everett for over 60 years.

He enjoyed raising beef cows, listening to gospel music, and watching Andy Griffith. He also loved being surrounded by family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Ray was known for his kindness, hard work, and Christian faith. He smiled and waved at everyone, and he never knew a stranger.

For the past six years, he has lived with his daughter Penny and her family in McConnellsburg.

Ray’s life will be celebrated on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 10 A.M. at the Clear Creek Brethren in Christ Church, located at 2035 Winding Ridge Rd, Everett, with Pastor John Geyer officiating.

Friends may call at the Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett, Pa, on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 3-8 P.M, and on Friday at the church from 9 A.M. until the hour of service.
