Ralphard L. Black, 77, of Berks Road, Everett, PA; passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020 at UPMC Altoona Hospital. He was born on September 25, 1942; a son of the late Ralphard E. and Leila M. (Dixon) Black. On October 6, 1962 in Cherry Tree, PA, he was united in marriage to Janet N. (Hill) Black. They celebrated fifty-seven years of marriage.
Along with his wife, he is survived by four children: Wendi L. Wright, Harrisburg, PA; Vicki L. Jones married to Tom, Glenshaw, PA; Timothy A. Black married to Pamela (Kline), Everett, PA; and Shari L. Lohman married to William, Shippensburg, PA; six grandchildren: Alicia Brown married to Kyle, Adam Black, Scott Jones, Hannah Jones, Samantha Lohman and Mallory Lohman; two great grandchildren: Ava Brown and Karter Brown; siblings Sandra Smith, Marlene married to Dean Putt, and Allen Black married to Sandy (Figard). He had a special friend his dog "Tucker", that didn't let him out of his sight very often.
He was preceded in death by a sister Linda Hobble, brother-in-law Don Smith and nephew Aaron Hobble.
Ralphard was a graduate of Saxton Liberty High School Class of 1960; attended Altoona School of Commerce from 1960-1962 and later received his masters from Rutgers University School of Banking and Finance.
He spent his career in banking, working at various banks over the years before starting his long-time career at the Everett Bank, where he was Vice-President until his retirement in 1997.
Ralph was a member of the Everett United Methodist Church, having served on many committees at the church over the years. He was a longtime member of the Everett Lions Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking and mushroom hunting. Ralph loved the beach; he cherished those morning walks at sunrise and always enjoyed an evening fire outside.
He was a devoted Christian, who spent time daily reading his bible.
Friends and Family will be received on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537 from 1-3:00 P.M. We ask that those in attendance would follow CDC guidelines by wearing a mask and following social distancing.
Funeral Service will be held privately with burial at Everett Cemetery, Everett.
