Phyllis Elaine (Palmer) Whitfield, 91 of Saxton, PA passed away on June 21, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was born on July 18, 1934, the daughter of Russell and Jean (Caldwell) Palmer in Liberty Township, Bedford County, PA.
She married James R. Whitfield on December 26, 1954. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers (Russel Palmer and Curtis Palmer) and a sister (Betty Reed). She was the last surviving member of her family. She is survived by three children, Mark A. (Eddie Hay) Whitfield of State College, Cindy R. (Craig) Segasser of York, and Susan B (Jerry) Park of Martinsburg, along with 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Whitfield was a 1952 graduate of the Saxton Liberty High School. She was a homemaker most of her life.
Mrs. Whitfield was an active member of St. John’s Trinity United Church of Christ in Saxton and was a member of the Mite Society in the church.
Visitation will be at Trinity United Church of Christ, 1001 Church Street, Saxton PA from noon to 1pm on June 27, 2026. ACelebration of Life service will be at 1pm following the visitation, with a graveside service to immediately follow. Burial will be at the Grandview Cemetery in Saxton.
