Phyllis O. (Steckman) Hockenbery

Phyllis O. Hockenbery, 96, of Everett, PA; passed away at UPMC Altoona on Monday, October 07, 2024.  She was born on January 09, 1928 in Clearville, PA; a daughter of the late Walter and Bessie (Shaw) Steckman. 

She is survived by her daughter Marsha Hockenbery of Martinsburg.

She was preceded in death by siblings; Berdetta Gurley, Helen Steckman, Bernice Collins and Rodger Steckman.

Mrs. Hockenbery was affiliated with the Missionary Alliance Church.

Phyllis was a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1947.  She worked at the Lion Manufacturing as a seamstress for 27 years and later working at Ramada Inn in Breezewood.

She enjoyed gardening, caring for her flowers, trying new recipes and had a love for animals and making sure they were taken care of.  She loved her companion and best friend, her dog “Mattie”.

Family and Friends will be received at the Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA on Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the services.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Maxwell officiating.

Burial will be held at Stevens Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Bedford County Humane Society, 182 Bohn Rd, Bedford, PA 15522.
