Michael L. Dodson, 76, of Sherman’s Valley, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, July 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, following a brief illness. He was born in Roaring Spring on June 8, 1949, a son of the late Robert and Ethel (Horton) Dodson - Knowles. Along with his loving wife, Charlene (Figard) Dodson of fifty-eight years, he is survived by his daughters, Eileen Lepley married to Danny and Annette Mellott married to Darryl; grandchildren Zachary Lepley, Hayley and Allera Mellott and two great grandsons Nate and Jake Lepley. He is also survived by siblings
Susan (Dodson) Long, Cathy Shatzer (Barry), Dave Dodson (Karen), Brenda Dodson – Wright (Jake), Valerie (Dodson) Thompson (Donnie), Marlin Dodson (Jody) and Vince (Suzie) Dodson and many special relatives and loving friends.
Mr. Dodson served as a trustee at the Sherman’s Valley Brethren in Christ Church.
Michael was a 1967 graduate of Tussey Mountain High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving from 1968-1970 during the Vietnam War. He then served in the National Guard before working as a supervisor at the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Service at Letterkenny for over 20 years. Following his retirement he worked for Broad Top Township.
Michael was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was well-known for his home-cooked meals and giant cookies. He enjoyed working outdoors on the Kubota and cutting firewood.
Friends and Family will be received on Monday, July 07, 2025 at the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537 from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 07, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor John Wiley and Pastor John Long officiating.
Burial will be held at Sherman’s Valley Cemetery with full military honors by the Broad Top Area Honor Guard.
