Michael Kent Clapper of Bedford, Pa., passed away suddenly on April 12, 2022, at the age of 71.
Mike was born Feb. 1, 1951, at Bedford Memorial Hospital and was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary Jewell Clapper of Bedford, Pa.
He is survived by his four siblings, including Steve Clapper and wife, Sharon Clapper; Jeff Clapper and girlfriend, Andrea Helsel; Mary Creps (Clapper); Laura Fisher (Clapper) and husband, Robert Fisher, all from Bedford, Pa. This included all their families and children who he loved dearly. He is also survived by his beloved friend, Marlene Pascual, and his three daughters: Tammy Taylor and boyfriend, Don Perrin, of Bedford, Pa.; Stephanie Jones and fiancé, David Chelette, from Mississippi; and Sarah Mellott and boyfriend, Thomas Fix, of Bedford, Pa.
Mike was also blessed with six grandchildren, including Rachel Clapper-Davis and husband, Alex Davis; Jesse Taylor and wife, Rachel Taylor; Rebekah Jones and husband, Jacob Romer; Stephanie Smith and husband, Sam Smith; Gabriel Jones; and Tristen James. Also, Mike profoundly loved his 10 great-grandchildren, including Noah Clapper, Caleb Taylor, Jackson Romer, Katelynn Taylor, Corbin Taylor, Evelyn Romer, Varro Smith, Vayne Smith, Ali Smith and Kaleb Smith.
Mike, Dad & “Pap” loved life and engaged in many fun adventures throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed having his family around where he could get together and take pictures and make great memories. He was proud of his family and proud to admit it.
Mike had a unique talent of writing songs and playing guitar at an early age and throughout his life. He was self-taught from his early teens where he played music at the Bedford High School. He also learned and enjoyed playing music with his father, Tom and brother, Jeff. He was also a gifted and skilled painter and wallpaper hanger, which was a trade within his family. He was also an avid fisherman, always ready to grab his pole and “catch the big one”. He enjoyed being outside, taking walks, and planting in his garden. He loved studying history, particularly biblical and family lineage. He was strong in his faith and deeply loved by his church.
Mike had a loving and goofy personality. He loved to laugh and was known for his humor and funny jokes. He always tried to be positive and find the good in everyone, which enabled him to touch many lives. He will truly be missed.
Please join us in a Celebration of Life on Monday, April 18, at the Everett Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church at 203 Drive In Lane, Everett, PA 15537. The event will begin at 6 p.m. where family and friends are welcome to gather in celebration of Mike’s life. Services will begin shortly thereafter at 6:30 p.m.
