Michael Lantz Burns, 80, of Saxton PA, passed away Tuesday, December 23rd with his family by his side. Mike was born November 15th, 1945, in Altoona, a son of the late Ernest and Carrie “Dolly” (Lantz) Burns. He was united in marriage to Nadine K. Burns, who resides at their home.
Along with his wife, he is survived by children; Mark Burns married to Anita of Saxton and Gina Swope married to Bob of Saxton. Stepchildren; Jesse Fessler of Saxton and Jason Fessler(Samantha), of Saxton. Nine grandchildren and Seven great grandchildren. Also survived by bother, Dave Burns married to Donna of Hollidaysburg and sister-in-law, Patricia Burns of James Creek.
He is proceeded in death by his brother, John Burns.
Mike will be remembered for his love of camping, Nascar and country music. He loved listening to country music but enjoyed picking out songs for Nadine to sing more. He always enjoyed cars and was very proud of the El Camino that Jason helped him completely restore recently. Mike loved going camping, especially in Florida. He recently lost his beloved boxer Odie, who loved going on golf cart rides, anywhere!
Mike graduated from Tussey Mountain High School Class of 1965. He was a lifetime member of the Saxton Volunteer Fire Company and the Saxton Sportsmen’s Association and a member of the Six Mile Run American Legion Post 556. Mike was a former member of the Everett Masonic Lodge F.&A.M. No. 524. For over 40 years, Mike had his own business, Burn’s Septic and in earlier years working for Carbaugh/Barkman’s Oil Company for many years.
He was known by many and loved by many more.
Friends and family will be received on Monday, December 29, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA 16678.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 12:00 Noon at the Akers Funeral Chapel with Pastor Alfred Chamberlain officiating.
Burial will be held at St. Luke’s Cemetery.
If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Burns to the Akers Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
