Melinda Wolfe Deremer, 71, passed peacefully into heaven on Monday, June 16, 2025, after a long struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born on October 14, 1953 in Chambersburg, Pa, the daughter of Joan (Yetter) Wolfe of Wells Tannery and the late Thomas P. Wolfe. On October 10, 1993 in Yaki Point Grand Canyon, Arizona; she was united in marriage to her husband and primary caregiver of thirty-two years Thomas E. Deremer.
Along with her mother and husband she is survived by a brother Steven P. Wolfe (wife Jan) of Shippensburg and their children Jeremy Wolfe, Josh Wolfe, Jeff Henry, Amy
(Henry) Craig and Jason Henry; sisters-in-law Olive Calhoun, Sara Deremer, and Linda Ennis; and many nieces and nephews.
Melinda was a graduate of Forbes Road High School Class of 1971. Throughout her career she excelled in clerical work, having worked for Fulton County, JLG Industries, Bowhunters Warehouse, New Cumberland Army Depot, U.S. Army War College, and HJ Culler, Inc. of McConnellsburg.
Melinda touched people’s lives and left lasting and wonderful friendships at each place of employment. A special thanks to the family of the late HJ and Aileen Culler where she was welcomed and treated as family until mobility issues forced her retirement.
Special thanks, also to Charlene Dodson for her friendship and support and Beverly Geller for teaching Melinda to weave baskets. They were both a true blessing to her.
Melinda was a woman of unwavering faith and lived a very Godly life, setting an example for all who knew her. She was an avid reader, had an amazing memory, and an infectious smile. She loved to laugh, joke and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She led her team of “Melinda’s Meanderers” in several 5K and 30-mile MS walks, making many friends while raising funds for the fight against MS.
MS limited her physically, but nothing limited her genuine respect and care for others. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her, but each and every one of them is thankful that she is no longer confined to a wheelchair and that she is now walking with Jesus.
At Melinda’s request there will be no services held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory, to the National MS Society, P.O. Box 91891, Washington, D.C. 20090-1891.
