Heaven gained a good one October 24th. Matthew David Howsare passed away doing what he loved; among the trees and majesty of God’s creation. The hardest worker, loving husband and son, proud dad, and loyal friend — he was the kind of man who’d give you the shirt off his back and still flash that big, gorgeous smile while doing it.
Matt loved the woods like most folks love the beach. That’s where he felt closest to God — out among the trees, the fresh air, and the sound of nature. He loved the smell of fresh-cut timber, the quiet of the woods, and the challenge of an honest day’s work. And when hunting season rolled around, you could bet he’d be up before daylight with his boys, ready to hit the woods with a grin on his face and coffee in hand.
He was a family man through and through — a wonderful husband, a loving dad, and the kind of guy who always put his people first. Whether it was working hard to provide or cracking a joke to make everyone laugh, he showed his love in the most genuine ways.
Matt never met a stranger. He was always the first to lend a hand, help a buddy out, or stop and chat awhile. His heart was as big as his smile, and he’ll be missed more than words can say.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Charlee and their three boys, who were his world -Kale, Cash & Colt, and two of the most loyal dogs any man could ask for. Loving parents Jim and Vickie Howsare; sisters Lori Snyder (Shawn, Alivia & Isaiah), Jamie Howsare (Andy, Ryan & Zach). Along with Grandmother, Audrey (O’Neal) Clark (Larry) and two very special uncles, Garry Howsare (Donna) and Tucker (Tom Howsare). Along with many countless friends and family who were lucky enough to know and love him.
A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 from 3-8 P.M. at the Clearville Community Church, 147 Cherry Lane, Clearville, PA 15535. In true Howsare fashion, come casual, share a story, and remember the man who made life a little brighter for everyone around him. A private graveside service will be held with family as they gather to honor his life and memory.
Hug tighter. Laugh louder. Take the pictures. Go on the trip. Live fully and love fiercely!
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in honor of Matt for his sons to the Hometown Bank c/o Howsare Boys Fund.
