Mary H Messinger

Mary Helen Messinger, 76, of Lincoln Highway, Harrisonville, PA; passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at home.  She was born on December 17, 1944 in Harrisonville, PA; a daughter of the late Walter and Eliza (Millin) Rotz.  On July 2, 1966 she was united in marriage to George R. Messinger.  He preceded her in death on April 7, 1997.

She is survived by two children George R. Messinger, Jr. married to Stephanie, Clearville, PA and Georgina Hammond and companion Jerry Imler, Everett; two sisters Tressa DeShong married to Avon, Harrisonville, PA and Betty Hager married to Paul, Bridgeport, WV; one brother Guy Rotz, Plattsburg, NY; nine grandchildren Levi Smeltzer married to Tyne, Paige Cooper married to Jayr, Devin Corle married to Morgan, Samantha Oxley married to Eddie, Meghan Hammond, Kimber Montebell married to Galen, Amber Middlesworth, Kylee Middlesworth, Jason Middlesworth, eight great grandchildren and one on the way, Gaige, Braylin, Brynn, Elora, Lyla, Tristan, Odessa and Tanner.

She was preceded in death by brother Clifford Rotz and grandson Neal Hammond.

Mary was a graduate of McConnellsburg High School Class of 1963.

Mary worked at the Gateway Travel Plaza for almost twenty-five years, retiring from there in 2016.  She sold real estate for many years prior to working at Gateway.  She worked at the Everett Shoe Factory right out of high school.

Mary was deep in her Christian Faith.  She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren beyond measure.  She went out of her way to make anyone’s life a little easier, she will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held privately in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Shadle officiating.

Burial will be held at Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Cemetery.
