Margaret “Peg” (Shuster) Statler, 66, of Huntingdon, passed away Friday, April 26, 2024, at her home. Born January 25, 1958 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late E.G. Bud Shuster and Patricia (Rommel) Shuster. She was united in marriage to Paul R. Statler in 1981, in Bedford, PA.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Robert Statler and wife, Chelsea (Neatrour) Statler of Duncansville, and Megan Statler of Huntingdon; and a grandson, Paul McQuilkin of Huntingdon. She is also survived by four siblings, Congressman Bill Shuster, Debbie Shuster (Greg), Bob Shuster (Kelly), and Gia Dixon (Grove); numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and cousins; as well as, her brothers and sisters-in-law, Don Statler, Doris Day (Jeff), Dave Statler (Kristen) and Jean Statler.
Peg was of the Christian faith and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was a graduate of Everett High School and received her bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Pittsburgh.
Peg began her professional career in the public relations/communication division of an industry association in Washington, DC. She relocated to Huntingdon, Pennsylvania when she and her husband purchased U.S. Municipal Supply. She was employed by U.S. Municipal Supply, Huntingdon, for 30 years until her retirement.
As a small business owner and mother, Peg volunteered for her children's’ activities and to support her community. She always made time to support the professional and social events of her extended family. She enjoyed organizing and fully engaging in family traditions and milestones, especially “cousins’ weekend” at which her presence will be both missed and always felt. She enjoyed traveling with and to visit with extended family and particularly to Vail, Colorado.
Her entire life was spent as the first of five children. “Peggy” or “Margaret Ann” embraced and met that role as she was a quiet, depended on and steady force in her family, always providing love and encouragement. The joy throughout her life was found in her love for, dedication to and time spent with Paul, Bobby, Megan and family generally; the greatest of which was the time spent with her grandson, “little Paul”.
There will be a visitation for Friends and Family from 10:00 – 11:00 followed by a service on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA. Interment will be at the Shuster Farms Cemetery, Everett, PA.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in remembrance of Margaret “Peg” Statler may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 524 Mifflin St., Huntingdon, PA 16652.
