M. Deloris (Barkman) Colledge

M. Deloris (Barkman) Colledge, 84, of Houston Road, Breezewood, PA; passed away on February 2, 2023 at home.  She was born on September 20, 1938 in Rainsburg, PA; a daughter of the late Alva O. and Lyda B. (Grove) Barkman.  On July 15, 1957 in Frederick, MD; she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, best friend and husband Jack E. Colledge.  He preceded her in death on March 22, 2009.

She is survived by children Monte Colledge married to Tammy Jo (Sadowsky), Breezewood; Debbie Colledge and life companion Terry “Chico” Dickinson, Everett and LaDonna married to Steven Virts, Everett; grandchildren Daniel Weist husband of the late Ruthann, Christopher Virts married to Shelly (Imler), Ashley married to Andrew Dicken, Corey Colledge and significant other Diane; great grandchildren Hannah, Dylan, Caitlin and Lily; siblings Helen L. Mills and C. Ruth Clark married to Dusty; and sister-in-law Linda Barkman.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Jeffrey E. Colledge, grandson Matthew Virts, and brothers Warren C. Barkman, Sr., William L. Barkman and O. Lee Barkman.

Deloris was a member of the Rays Cove Christian Church where she served as a church treasurer for many years and later attended Breezewood Community Church. 

She was a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1957.

She had a love for gospel music, singing with the Shining Rays.  She and her husband owned and operated Colledge Dairy Farms for many years.  She and her husband also were bus contractors for the Everett Area School District for fifty-one years with buses 4 & 5, where as a bus driver, she was fondly referred to as “Granny”.
Deloris enjoyed flower gardening and mowing grass.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor John Bennett officiating. 

Friends and family will be received on Monday, February 6, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA.

Burial will be held at Rays Cove Christian Church Cemetery.
