Lois May Horton, 85, of Everett, passed away at UPMC Altoona on Sunday, January 24, 2021. She was born on January 13, 1936, a daughter of the late Harry and Isabelle (Savage) Chesbro.
She is survived by the following children: Sonya Miller married to Tom, Wanda Beegle married to Joe, Marcia Rickabaugh married to Jerry, Gary Horton and William Horton. Grandchildren: Sonya, Heidi, Alexis, and Andria; Joseph, Julie, and Ginger; Shannon, April, and Krystal; Jamie, Garrett, Colton, and Kilee; Elijah, Joshua, and Maranotha. Twenty-seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. A brother Carlisle Chesbro married to Loretta.
She was preceded in death by siblings: Harry Chesbro, Marie Sherman, and Howard Chesbro.
Mrs. Horton served in The United States Marine Corp. where she trained to be a nurse. Over the years she completed her nurses training and worked as a nurse and as a paralegal doing legal services in Bedford County. She also served as a police woman. She attended a clown school in Florida where she was a part of the halftime show of The Citrus Bowl.
She was of the Christian faith. She was a member of The Marine Corp. League. She enjoyed swimming, visiting Disney World, and collecting various items. Her love of travel led her to various parts of the world.
A private funeral service will be held in the chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Reverend Robert R. Robertson officiating. Burial will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park with full military honors by The Everett Area Honor Guard.
