Leonard C. Steele, 82, of Hopewell, PA; passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 4, 1943 in Mason, MI; a son of the late Ralph W. and Leah L. (Bowser) Steele. He is survived by his loving wife Jennie Mae (Koser) Steele. Along with his wife of fifty-two years, he is survived by two children Joy Peterman married to Ernie of Duncansville and Jonathan Steele married to Lucene of Martinsburg; four grandchildren Nolan, Leah, Levi and Laura.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph Dean and Charles Byron.
Leonard was a graduate of Saxton Liberty High School Class of 1961 and from Elizabethtown College where he earned his BS in Business Administration. Leonard retired from New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company after thirty-seven years as Equipment Comptroller/Administrator.
He was a member of Bethel Church of the Brethren and served as deacon and church board chairperson. Leonard’s love for the outdoors brought him to Cypher, where he enjoyed the river, the mountains and the farm. He loved his four grandkids, and spent much time enjoying the outdoors with them.
Friends and family will be received on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537 from 1-4 P.M. and on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the church.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethel Church of the Brethren with Pastor Jeff Seace and Pastor David Mohr officiating.
Burial will be held privately at Steele Cemetery.
Christian ministry is near and dear to Leonard. This Haitian ministry was founded by Leonard’s late friend/brother Preval Meritil. Many of Leonard’s friends are actively engaged in this ministry. Donations in Leonard’s memory are appreciated as Haiti is currently in a dire crisis.
