Larry Lee Obituary

Larry J. Lee 85, a resident of the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, formerly of Artemas, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2024 at the home. He was born July 1, 1939 in Lonaconing, MD; a son of the late Joseph W. and Margurite B. (Groves) Lee. He married Susan J. Gardner on November 26, 1992 in York County.

Surviving is his wife Susan of Elizabethtown, a daughter Kimberly Gwaltney of Delmar, MD, three step children Elisabeth A. Owen and husband David of San Luis Obispo, CA, David A. Norsen and wife Julie of Hollister, CA and Rebecca A. Oberdorff and husband Mark, of Brogue, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Larry was employed as a Corrections Officer for the State of Maryland, Department of Public Safety retiring in 1990. He then drove school bus for the Fulton County School District.

Larry attended Liberty Independent Baptist Church, Everett and Fellowship Baptist Church, Mt. Joy. He was a member of Son’s of American Legion in Berkley Springs, WV, Clear Spring, MD and Elizabethtown and was active in the Honor Guard. He also was a member of Glen Burnie F&AM Lodge 213, Scottish Rite Body of Baltimore, MD, Ali Ghan Shrine, Cumberland, MD and the Railroad Unit of the Shrine.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road Everett from 1-2 P.M.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 2:00 P.M in the Chapel at the Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Clifford Swankler officiating. Interment at Fairview Cemetery, Artemas.
