Kimberly Dawn (Young) Barrick

Kimberly Dawn (Young) Barrick, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at the age of 63.  She was born on July 11, 1961 in Everett, PA; a daughter of the late Herbert J. Young and Doris E. (James) Pensyl.  On November 25, 2013 in Berkeley Springs, WV; she was united in marriage to Randy S. Barrick. 

Along with her husband, she is survived by a son James D. “JD” Lashley married to Lisa, daughter Mindi married to Jordan Glass, step-father Mark C. Pensyl, step sons, Zack Barrick married to Samantha and Mathew Barrick, grandchildren Adriona, Michael, Zahli, Evan, Morgan, Kali, Reed and Alexander, sisters Vicki married to Greg Imgrund and Susan D. Deputy. 

She was preceded in death by a nephew Ryan Karns.   

Kim loved spending time with her family, having picnics, going camping and taking her grandkids to fun activities and events.  She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

She was a graduate of Bedford High School Class of 1979.

She was employed for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for over 20 years, holding many titles working in Bedford and Cambria Counties until her retirement in 2021.

Friends and Family will be received on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at 11:00 A.M.  in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Lingenfelter officiating.

Burial will be held at Woods Church Cemetery.

If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of Kim to the American Cancer Society.
