Kenneth Sponsler Obituary

Kenneth E. Sponsler, 83, of Hollars Extension, Everett, PA; passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital, Everett, PA.  He was born on April 20, 1936; a son of the late Ellis E. and Rhoda (Foor) Sponsler.  On February 25, 1956 in Everett, PA; he married K. Joan “Ann” (Diehl) Sponsler at the First United Church of Christ, a union of sixty-three years.

Along with his wife he is survived by children Ed Sponsler, Greg Sponsler married to Karen, Pam Sponsler, Mark Sponsler married to Sharon; grandsons Dusty, Casey, Nathan, and Caleb; great-grandchildren Layne, Brooke, Bridget, Faith, Kaiden, Hunter, Alaina, and Brode; siblings Richard Sponsler, and Debbie married to Daryl Hixon.

Kenny was preceded in death by a sister Judy Sherman.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Everett where he served as a Deacon.

He worked for Brown’s Motors and later for Penn Detroit Diesel in Bedford until his retirement.   After retirement he shuttled cars for Bedford Ford and Bedford Chrysler.

Kenneth was a member of the Everett Sportsman’s Club, the Logan Country Hunting Camp, a life member of the National Rifle Association, the National Wild Turkey Federation, and many other organizations.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He as a devoted husband, Dad and Granddad.

He was a graduate of Everett Southern-Joint High School Class of 1953.

Friends and Family may call at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA on Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. and on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the church.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Christian Church, 57 Providence Street, Everett, PA; with Rev. Robert R. Robertson officiating. 

Burial will be held at the Everett Cemetery.
