Kathy A. (Johnson) Getz

Kathy A. Getz, 70, of Martinsburg, PA; went to be with her mother on Mother’s Day, May 14, 2023.  She passed surrounded by love after a long battle with cancer.  She fought incredibly hard and deserves the peace she now has with all of the loved ones gone before her. She was born on January 8, 1953 in Roaring Spring, PA; a daughter of the late Samuel Johnson and Melda (Ayers) Johnson. Kathy grew up on her parent’s farm in Martinsburg.

She is survived by her loving husband Denny of fifty-one years; two beautiful daughters, Karrie Miller (John) and Amber Brumbaugh (Matt); four loving grandchildren, Brittany Lavezoli (Cameron), Alyssa Brumbaugh, Megan Brumbaugh, and Tyler Brumbaugh; one great-grandchild Luca Lavezoli; two sisters, Sandy Cohen and Tammy Snively; along with numerous other family members and friends.

She and her husband made the most beautiful log cabin home together. Along the way her family grew and so did the abundance of memories and joy she left in her wake.

Kathy enjoyed music, beaches, flamingos, pink, animals, yard sales, flowers, but most of all her family and friends. She cherished the time she had with the ones she loved. She was a true matriarch of the family and a true friend. There are so many words that could be said about her and for her, but to sum it up she was and will always be our sunshine. She will always shine that gorgeous light down on us.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.

For now, if friends so desire in lieu of flowers please plant something in her honor. Plant something you can look at and be reminded of her. Make the world a more beautiful place for her.
