Joyce (Means) Pepple, 78, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Doey’s House in Hagerstown, Maryland. She was born on July 7, 1945 in Everett, PA; a daughter of the late Ivan B. and Virginia (Weimer) Means. On January 21, 1967 in the Snake Spring Valley Church of the Brethren she was united in marriage to John William “Bill” Pepple. He preceded her in death on December 17, 2022.
She is survived by children Jeannette (Pepple) Zuvich married to Greg, Hagerstown, MD; Michele (Pepple) Morral married to Randy, Smithsburg, MD; grandchildren Kortney Howerton married to Chris; Kameron Morral married to Jackie; Benjamin Zuvich and Matthew Zuvich; great-grandchildren Connor Howerton, Arlie Morral, Karson Morral and an expected Grandson in June; and a special sister Gail Badaracco.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings R. Bryce Means, Doris Mueller, Lois Hoagland, Ruth Borror and an infant brother Blair Means.
Joyce was a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1962. She worked as an Administrative Assistant at the Huntingdon-Bedford-Fulton Area Agency on Aging for many years until her retirement.
Joyce had a fun-loving personality which allowed her to make friends wherever she was. She had the ability to know exactly what others needed and never hesitated to reach out to them to offer support or just check in with a phone call every now and then. Many of her friends and relatives would often receive a card on their birthday, anniversary, or on holidays and her daughters or grandchildren may have even received two cards for one occasion because she just couldn’t decide which card stated all the sentiment that she was hoping to pass along. As much as she loved helping others, there was no greater role in her life than being a wonderful Mom and Meemaw. She enjoyed all the activities of her girls and traveled to attend the sporting events that her grandchildren were participating in. During the racing season, she would spend many Friday and Saturday evenings at Path Valley Speedway cheering on her grandson Kameron. Joyce enjoyed spending time in the last year with her friend Glenn, and newly found friends at Homewood at Williamsport, Maryland, plus all the extra special caregivers there.
She was a member of the Everett Church of the Brethren where she taught Children’s Sunday School for many years.
