Joseph Miller, Jr. Obituary

Joseph Miller, Jr., 88, of Bedford, PA; passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Frostburg Rehabilitation Center, Frostburg, MD.  He was born on March 17, 1938 in Everett, PA; a son of the late Joseph Miller, Sr. and Allie (Leasure) Miller.  On May 16, 1959 in the Wells Tannery United Methodist Church, he was united in marriage to Sandra S. (Shaw) Miller.

Along with his wife of sixty-six years, he is survived by children Joseph Robert Miller married to Margaret, Upper Marlboro, MD and Stacy (Miller) Murray married to Steve, Edgewater, MD; grandchildren Erica Boswell married to Jason, Zachary S. Gehrt and Joseph C. Miller; great grandchildren Tyler Joseph Boswell and Allie Marie Boswell; and a sister Meriam Kidd.

He was preceded in death by two infant children and siblings Mary Barrett, Nellie Shoop, Goldie Cooper, Doris Maston and three infant siblings.

Joe was a graduate of Robert P. Smith High School Class of 1957.  He was a member of Bethel Free Methodist Church in Fort Washington, Maryland.

He was a member of the Everett V.F.W. Post 2088 and the Everett American Legion Post No.08.  Joe served in the United States Marine Corps from 1957-1960 as a Corporal.

He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, working around his home and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Nascar fan.

Joe was employed as a distinguished maintenance supervisor for A.P. Woodson Oil Company and Petro Oil for forty years until his retirement.  His pride in his career was not a single act but a habit of commitment.

Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537 from 12:30-2:00 P.M. 

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Miller officiating.  Full military honors will be conducted by the Everett Area Honor Guard.

Burial will be held privately at Bedford County Memorial Park.
