John R. Swindell, Jr.

January 4, 1966 ~ August 16, 2021 (age 55)

John R. Swindell, Jr., 55, of Breezewood, PA went to be with the Lord on August 16, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was surrounded by his family and furbabies.  John was born on January 4, 1966 to the late Vera M. Watkins.

John is survived by his loving wife of 18 ½ years and caregiver Richella Swindell.  John was blessed with four wonderful children who he loved dearly.  Sheila Swindell (Rick) Teeters, Jr. of Clearville; Jonathan Swindell (Haleigh) of Breezewood; Rebecca Cramer (Wesley) of Mapleton Depot; and his baby Megan (aka Monkey) Swindell at home. One brother Dale (Nancy) Watkins of Chambersburg.  The best mother-in-law ever (Nana) Sandy Kerr of Warfordsburg.  He was also survived by brothers-in-law Denny (Jen) Breon of Hollidaysburg and Richard (Heather) Kerr of Everett and sister-in-law Linda (Donnie) Leasure of Hancock.

He was blessed with the most awesome grandbabies: Katelynn, Hailie, Evan, Hayden, Austin, Levi, Landyn, Dallas, Lorraine, Chase, Zach, Jordan, Aubrey, and his awaiting the arrival of Brookelynn and Little John.

John had numerous nieces and nephews who he loved as his own: Steven, Zoey, Sadie, Zach, Kylie, Bethann, Ellen, Anthony, and Daniel.

John was preceded in death by his mother, his first wife Christine, as well as one child and two grandbabies in heaven.

John loved to spend his free time, when he found some, hunting and fishing with his wife, kids, and grandkids, and the whole gang.  Turkeys were his passion, especially with his cousins Boyde, Tim, and his son and grandsons.

John was of the Christian faith and loved attending Mountain Chapel Church for the past year and a half.  He loved spending Sunday morning with some of the people he loved most his Aunt Roma and Uncle Rodger, his (mom) Sandy, his special cousin and sister Marietta, his wife, and some other special important family.

John was last employed by JLG Industries where he spent 31 long years but made some amazing friends (more like family) and those friendships lasted his lifetime.  Thanks to all of you for your love and support throughout this journey with us.  Thanks to all who visited and sent well wishes.  He loved you all so.  A special thanks to some of his special nurses Jess, Brianna, Katie, Tara, Emily, Liz, Kayla, Wanda, Tina, and Jen.  Thank you for showing John all the love and support you have.  We truly do love and appreciate you all!

John always had a sense of humor even after being hooked to chemo for four hours, he still picked on these ladies and they loved him for his spunk and you never knew what was coming next.

A special thanks to Pastor Ron Hott and his wife Sharon for helping John “be adopted by God the Father!”  We love and appreciate you.

Thanks to those who were here for him the past several days; it meant more to him than you will ever know.
