John M. Stetchock

John Marlin Stetchock, 83, of James Creek, PA; passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28, 2025 at Penn Highlands Healthcare, Huntingdon, PA.  He was born on March 30, 1941 in Huntingdon, PA; a son of the late John and Julia (Worhach) Stetchock.  On September 11, 1971 in St. Paul's United Church of Christ Russellville, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Jane "Janie" (Baker) Stetchock.  

Along with his loving wife, he is survived by three children Kevin Stetchock, Huntingdon; Karen Strine married to Matthew, Carlisle; and Kelly Stetchock married to Jaime, Greensburg; grandchildren Rhett Stetchock married to Katie, Julia Strine, Jillian Strine, Jonathan Stetchock, Joven Strine and Kaitlyn Stetchock; siblings Sue Docherty, Alexandria; James Stetchock married to Delores, Cassville; and Thomas "Bill" Stetchock married to Cindy and many special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister Verna Stetchock.

Mr. Stetchock was a graduate of Robertsdale High School Class of 1959.  He served in the United States Army as a SP-4 in the 8th infantry division of the medical battalion as a radio operator from 1960-1962.  John worked a thirty-five year career as a supervisor at Owens-Corning Fiberglas in Huntingdon until his retirement in 2000.

John was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Russellville where he served as an Elder.  He was a member and trustee of the Marklesburg Volunteer Fire Company, and he and his wife volunteered and served numerous turkey dinners. John also served as president of the Russellville Reformed Cemetery Association. He was also a member of the Saxton Sportsmen’s and over the years participated in his Church Bowling League, Fiberglass Softball League, and Senior Golfing League. John was an inductee of the Broad Top Old Timers Hall of Fame.

He was also a founding member of the Woodcock Valley Little League where he served as a coach for a number of years.

John had a love for sports, and he enjoyed cheering on the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins. One of his most cherished titles was Pap, and he enjoyed watching and supporting his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins at their sporting events.  In addition to his enthusiasm for supporting high school and college sports, John spent time farming, golfing, and making apple butter.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at the St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 18829 Raystown Road, James Creek, PA from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of the Celebration of John's life at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Dale Parker officiating.  A graveside service will follow at the Russellville Reformed Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory of John to the Marklesburg Volunteer Fire Company 15205 Raystown Road James Creek, PA 16657 or the St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 1435 Shy Beaver Road (c/o Brian Riley) James Creek, PA 16657.
