John McGraw Stanley

John McGraw Stanley, 92, of Clear Ridge Road, Everett, PA; passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Pennknoll Village.  He was born on March 6, 1932 in Everett, PA; a son of the late Oscar Lee Stanley, Sr. and Mary Pearl (McGraw) Stanley.  On November 10, 1962 in Everett Lutheran Church; he was united in marriage to Ruby Dolores (Brown) Stanley.  She preceded him in death on August 15, 2002.

He is survived by children Kevin Ray Stanley, Everett; Kerry John Stanley, Hagerstown, MD; Kendra Pearl Ott, Johnstown and Kristen Jane Morinelli married to Patrick, Marriottsville, MD; grandchildren Casey Ott, Makenna Ott, Kyra Morinelli and Maggie Morinelli.

He was preceded in death by siblings Edwin Stanley, Oscar Stanley, Jr., Glenn Stanley, Jean Ritchey, Dorothy Garland and Mary Koontz.

He was a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1950 and served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

John attended the First Christian Church, Everett.  He was a member of the Bedford-Fulton County Chapter of the Friends of the NRA, he served several years as treasurer of the Everett Sportsman’s Club; and he was a rifle instructor for Everett Junior Rifle Club.  He enjoyed being with family, gardening, baking pies, carpentry, clay shooting, a love for Ford automobiles, and eating tomatoes and ice cream.

John was a mail carrier for thirty-eight years until his retirement in 2002. Before that, he worked as a mechanic for approximately 10 years. John was a kind, caring man who would help anyone he could, and he could build or repair virtually anything home- or auto-related.

Friends and Family will be received on Monday, July 8, 2024 at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Rev. Robert R. Robertson Officiating.

Burial will be held at Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Breezewood with full military honors conducted by the Everett Area Honor Guard.
