John F. Price, 83, of Everett, PA. passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA after a brief illness. He was born, June 2, 1941, in Everett, PA, the only child of Ralph S. and Grace (Calhoun) Price. On September 15, 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Iva Jean (Snyder) Price at the Pleasant Union Church in Clearville, PA.
Along with his wife of 62 years, their marriage was blessed by two special daughters: Julie Pedersen, married to Larry, of Madison, NJ, Jennifer Thorpe, married to Jay of Ellicott City, MD; Pappy to his 3 grandchildren; Christian Pedersen, Madison, NJ; Erika Pedersen, Charlotte, NC; and Bree Thorpe, Ellicott City, MD, and a sister-in-law, Leota Mills, Chambersburg, PA, and many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law: John W. and Alma Snyder, Palmer and Arlene Snyder, Marjorie and Ellis Klahre, Melda and Paul Castang, Ruth and Cleo Mallow, Audrey and Eldon Mills, and Robert Mills.
John was an active member of The First Christian Church of Everett and a member of the New Crusaders Sunday School Class. God and his church were an important part of his life.
A graduate of Everett Area High School, class of 1959, and a 1962 graduate of Stevens Trade School, John worked at The Washington Bakery, The Sweet Shop, and later had a career of over 40 years at the Everett Post Office, retiring in 2007. He was a friendly and dedicated letter carrier. After retirement in 2009, John then began working at the Akers Funeral Home until current.
He and his wife enjoyed traveling with trips to Alaska, several European countries, and attending all home Penn State football games for over 28 years. They attended several bowl games including a trip to the Rose Bowl and parade in 1992. John was also a Steelers and Pirate fan. Their favorite trips were to Seattle, Maryland and New Jersey to visit their daughters and families. Earlier in life, he loved hunting and keeping his property beautiful. They also loved Fall trips to Ocean City, Maryland.
He was a loving husband, father and pappy. His family was an extra special blessing to him.
Friends and Family will be received on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett from 4:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Monday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.
Funeral Service will be held at the First Christian Church, 57 Providence Street, Everett, PA at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Robert R. Robertson officiating.
Burial will be held in Mt. Union Cemetery, Mench.
