John S. Kline, 91, of Hopewell, passed away on Wednesday December 27, 2023 at The Village at Morrisons Cove. He was born on November 5, 1932 in Langdondale, PA; the son of the late Clarence and Viola C. (Fluke) Kline. On September 12, 1984 in Saxton, PA; he was united in marriage to Violet M. (Leader) Kline. She preceded him in death on November 23, 2019.
He is survived by a daughter Melody married to David Uhland, Hopewell, PA; step children Charlotte married to Paxton Clark, Everett; Patricia Scherbring, Belton, TX; Brian Luttrell and significant other Rhonda Giffin, Breezewood, PA and Bonnie Knechtel, Saxton, PA; sister Jean Brueck; three grandchildren Heather Morgan, John Kline and Angie Thompson; seven step grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, step great grandchildren and step great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son John A. Kline and brothers Robert and James Kline.
Mr. Kline served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Corporal from 1953 until 1955.
He worked as a diesel mechanic for many years at Roadway Express, Inc. until his retirement. He was a member of Teamsters Local Union No. 776.
John enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, hunting, fishing, Jeep rides on the mountain and working on vehicles in his garage.
He was a member of the Six Mile Run American Legion Post 556.
Friends and Family will be received on Saturday, December 30, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA 16678.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the Akers Funeral Chapel with Pastor John Bennett officiating.
Burial will be held at Yellow Creek Reformed Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Broad Top Area Honor Guard.
If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of John to the UPMC Family Hospice or the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center.
