Joanne L. (Truax) Calhoun

Joanne L. Calhoun, 83, of Lepley Road, Everett, PA; passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.  She was born on October 29, 1938 in Breezewood, Pennsylvania; a daughter of the late Elmer Truax and Nan (Bequeath) Blackstone.  In 1956 she was united in marriage to Allen E. Calhoun.  He preceded her in death on August 11, 2020.

She is survived by children Gregory Calhoun married to Melinda; Jeffrey Calhoun, and Lisa Whisel; four grandchildren Jessica (Calhoun) Vollbrecht, Adam Whisel, Landon Calhoun and Tyler Calhoun; six great grandchildren Carson and Kylee Vollbrecht, Nolan, Gavin and Georgiana Whisel and Amya Calhoun; two step great grandchildren Jordan and Nathan Keller; siblings Ray Truax married to Kitty; Ed Truax married to Vicky and Sheryl married to Rollin Treece; brother-in-law T. Lee Nave.

Along with her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by a son Kevin Calhoun, a sister Patricia Nave and son-in-law Robert Whisel.

Joanne attended the Everett Assembly of God Church.  She and her late husband enjoyed visits from Pastor John Bennett and his singing ministry.   She loved her children, grandchildren, they were her world, and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them.

She worked at Howard Johnsons in Breezewood as a waitress for many years and as a bus driver for the Everett Area School District alongside her husband as well as served as an elderly caregiver for years.

Friends and family may call at the Everett Assembly of God Church, 161 Blackstone Road, Everett, PA. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service at 2:00 P.M.  

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the Everett Assembly of God with Pastor John Wiley officiating.

Burial will be held at the Mt. Union Cemetery.
