Joanna LaRue (Rummel) Ross

Joanna LaRue (Rummel) Ross was called to her eternal home on July 21, 2024, in Everett, PA, at the age of 95. She was born on May 2, 1929, to William Nelson and Verna (Gochnour) Rummel, in Woodbury Twp., Bedford County, PA. LaRue’s life was a masterclass in homemaking – she crafted a home not just of bricks and beams, but with love and dreams.

LaRue walked a path of unwavering faith found solace and community at Windber Church of the Brethren and United Methodist Church of Everett. She had a passion for crocheting yarn into blue-ribbon winners which she shared with all.

LaRue was a beloved mother of 7 children, a grandmother to 12, a great-grandmother to 24, and a great-great-grandmother to 3 children. She cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. She mothered with a wink and a smile, her love unconditional extending not only to her natural children but also to others she met in her life.

LaRue is survived by her daughters Patricia Elaine Webb (Steve), Deborah A. Clark (Barry Frye), Sandra Lynn Moss (Barry), Tracey Lee Fletcher-Godfrey (J.M.), and sons Alexander Craig Ross (Sally), Brian Merle Ross (Donna), and preceded in death by her son Robert Wayne and her husband Alexander H “Sandy” Ross.

With the guidance of Akers Funeral Home, we prepare to bid farewell.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a charity that would make LaRue smile or to the Salvation Army.

Friends and Family will be received on Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Taylor Johnston officiating.

Entombment will occur privately at Richland Cemetery, Johnstown, PA.
